Erode is a major turmeric-growing district in Tamil Nadu, India. The crop is grown in the blocks of Kodumudi, Modakkurichi, Erode, Bhavani, Anthiyur, and Gobichettipalayam. Farmers harvest a portion of their crop ahead of Pongal, a tradition that has been passed on for generations.
